Choose Your Bedroom Furniture With Style: Today's homes are decorated in different styles, ranging from contemporary to futuristic or even traditional designs are tastefully incorporated into each room. Here we focus on the bedroom which is indeed a very private and cozy 'getaway' from the rest of the house. If you have followed a certain theme for the other rooms the bedroom can also be designed to conform to the same or else it can be made different to suit your imagination of a comfortable retreat. Before choosing the bedroom furniture, it's best to pay attention to the color scheme to be followed. The paint work on the walls, the color of the curtains and the bedroom furniture should complement each other. A contrast effect can also give a classy and chic look to the room. It is very important that the room shouldn't appear over crowded. Limit your furniture so that each piece reflects its elegance and style.

How to pick stylish bedroom furniture

The bed or the cot is the focal point in any bedroom. Give adequate thought to the shape and size of the bed. Beds come in various sizes like King, Queen, twin, double bed etc. A classic wood pattern, powder coated metal frames and even MDF (medium density fibre boards) are commonly used in building cots. Some cots come with built in or removable drawers providing ample storage space. Choosing a comfortable mattress is the next step. Make sure you find one that suits your sleeping style and preferences. A comforter or eiderdown that goes with your curtains gives a lovely effect.

Every bedroom needs a wardrobe or a dresser. Here again make sure you design your wardrobe in a size that would fit in all your clothes and accessories. A well organized unit gives easy access to items stored. You can even include a shoe rack at the skirting of the wardrobe. A laundry basket with air outlets to keep out bad odor can also be incorporated into this unit. Some of them have in-built metal safes for storing valuable items like jewelry and documents. All this accounts for saving space within limited area. Mostly the same material use for the cot is used in making the wardrobe though they come in varieties like sliding door and glass door types. A full length mirror is usually part of such a wall unit.

Some people do away with the wardrobe for smaller rooms and make do with a dresser and others add a matching dresser to the room along with the wardrobe. This comprises a chest of 7-8 drawers that can vary according to your requirements. An oak wood dresser was a typical inclusion in any Old English cottage. Even today people find it easier to store small and personal items conveniently in dressers. A small nightstand or a bedside table is useful especially to store anything you might need during the night. A dressing table with mirror is another addition to large sized bedrooms. Make sure the lighting of the room is kept mellow and add bed lamps with attractive shades for a good effect. An eye for detail ensures elegance, comfort and style to your bedroom.
