Discover the different kinds of bedding
When you are out choosing new things for your bed, you may find that it is a little overwhelming. Who would have thought that they would have made so many different bedding materials for the bed. Knowing the different kinds of blankets and bedspreads can make the selection a lot easier.

When you are shopping and have no idea what they mean when they have something that is written on the description, that does not help to make your shopping any easier. This is why you are going to be provided information to help so that next time it will be much easier. You will have more of an idea of the terms that are in the description or maybe if you already do maybe you will learn something new.

I'm sure you have heard of a bedspread before, well most people have. Sometimes people are unfamiliar with the term and get it mixed up with a comforter. There is a difference though.

The way to identify a bedspread, is that it goes to the flood. Additionally, it provides some extra material to place over the pillows. There are two kinds of styles: tailored or throw.

Tailored means it is fitted to the bed. The pillow tuck is the extra material where you place the pillow in the covering. Any length that the bed covering hangs off the side of the bed is called the side drop.

Always make sure to read the label on the bedspread, since many of them need dry cleaning due to the way they are made. Many of the them have fancy stitching which holds together the decorative fabrics.

Another type of bedding is called a coverlet. This type of bed covering does not go to the floor, but still has the option of whether you want to have it tailored or throw style. Usually these are made of woven or quilted fabrics. Make sure to read the label to determine the type of cleaning that it will need.

Duvet covers people use as a way to protect and add style to things such as down comforters. Comforters, do not reach the floor and come with polyester filling in most cases, unless they are down filled. Many of them vary in the style and materials that are used.

Some of the bedding sets that you buy may also come with something that is called a pillow sham. What these are use for a decorative purposes. Usually they are either flanged, which means that they are tailored, or they can be welted, or ruffled. The material that they come in usually depends on the bed covering, since they usually go along according the the decoration of the bedding.

Dust ruffles or bed skirts go on the lower portion of the bed and make the bottom part look more appealing. Some of the options that they come in are tailored, box pleated, or gathered, which is called shirred. The material that they are made of, usually depends on the set that they match. This is a good way to cover anything underneath the bed that you don't want others to see.
