In a bid to make it easier for passengers to get to and from Manchester Airport, a round the clock service on the 43 bus route has been introduced. The bus route in question links the airport with the city centre and is a popular way for travellers to commute to arrivals and leave from departures.
The main reason why the bus route has been turned into a 24 hour operation is because of the increase in the number of passengers going through the airport's doors every day. The service currently runs between Piccadilly Station and the airport every 30 minutes but only during the day. It is also hoped that by encouraging people to use the bus service that Manchester Airport parking will be a lot easier to find as not as many people will be driving to the airport.
This is a popular bus route and extending the timetable will allow more people to be able to use the service. It will now run throughout the night and all day so people will be able to take the bus from Piccadilly to the airport at a time that suits them. It is likely that people are now going to find this bus service a lot easier than going through the hassle of finding Manchester Airport parking at busy times.
Another important factor in the decision to extend the timetable was for environmental reasons. Airport authorities have been working hard to encourage the bus company to extend the link's running hours as part of its environmentally friendly measures and to cut transport in and around the airport. To make it even easier for passengers and to encourage them to use the service, Bluetooth technology is being used to provide passengers with travel details via their mobile phones.
No doubt this is due to constant criticisms about the effect that airports are having on the environment. This has become a particularly hot topic due to Heathrow Terminal 5 opening early next year so many airports are trying to counteract this negative publicity. Manchester Airport have expressed that they want staff and passengers to come by rail, bus, tram, cycle and even walk if they can. By extending the bus timetable it makes it easier for people to be able to do this.
Not only does this make it easier for people who travel to the airport by bus, it is going to benefit Manchester Airport parking. This is because less people are going to be using the parking facilities so it will be easier to find parking and there will be less traffic in and around the airport.
Another popular option regarding Manchester Airport parking is meet and greet services. Some of the reasons why so many people use this service are because it means that people don't have to carry around heavy luggage, they can feel secure about where their car is parked and they don't have to wait around for public transport.
